Gayle (Ranby) Robinson wrote that her husband's great grandfather was Rev George Foster who was the first incumbent of St Mary’s in Timaru New Zealand. Two of Clara’s brothers were medical doctors, Frederick Charles Foster and Francis Troughton Foster. Rev George Foster married Alice Mary Suddard from Canada.
     Joseph died in 1931 in New Zealand.

Joseph Sykes Webb

     Joseph Sykes Webb was born circa 1833.
Joseph Sykes Webb married Eliza Jane Parker, daughter of John Skottowe Parker and Jane Phillips, on 14 November 1855 in St James, Morpeth, New South Wales. At St. James's, Morpeth, on the 14th instant, by the Right Rev. the Bishop of Newcastle, assisted by the Rev. J. R. Bloomfield, Joseph Sykes Webb, Esq., of Sydney, eldest son of Joseph Webb,
Esq., of Huddersfield, Yorkshire, to Eliza Jane, second daughter of John Skottowe Parker, Esq., Morpeth.

Mr Joseph Sykes Webb became a member of the City Council for High Ward in 1877, and was re-elected in the following year. He resigned on the 20th of April, 1880. Mr Webb arrived in New Zealand from Sydney, in 1859, and carried on business in Dunedin, in an extensive way, as a general merchant. He was also connected with the newspaper “Otago Colonist,” and afterwards started a weekly paper, of which he was editor and proprietor. Mr Webb subsequently went to Honolulu, but afterwards returned to Oamaru, where he resided until his death. Joseph Sykes Webb was widowed in 1865 on the death of his wife Eliza Jane Parker.
Joseph Sykes Webb married secondly Mabel Wilhelmina Phillips on 17 October 1866 in New Zealand. The marriage was registered as both 1867/9118 & 1866/8992. The family lived in Honolulu for a time as Joseph was in the foreign office and a paymaster for the Hawaiian Navy and returned to NZ before his death.

     Joseph Webster was born in 1852 in Sheffield, Yorkshire. Randal Mortimer wrote: Joseph Webster married Elizabeth Lydia Reeder. They had three children, Lucy, Emma, and Edwin. The family emigrated from England to Ontario, Canada in 1884. In 1896, they migrated just south of the Canadian border in the State of North Dakota, USA. Here they farmed until their deaths (Elizabeth in 1917 and Joseph in 1920).
In 1902, Emma Webster (born 1879 in Darfield Bridge, Yorkshire) married William John Kays (born 1869 in Ontario, Canada) at Langdon, North Dakota. They homesteaded at Calvin, North Dakota and raised five children. William John Kays died in 1920 and Emma passed away in 1933. Their daughter, Ethel Mae Kays, born 1904 at Sarles, North Dakota, was my grandmother. She married George E. Mortimer in 1922. George was born in Iowa in 1894. George and Ethel Mortimer had eleven children. George farmed near the Kays farm at Sarles. George died in 1970 and Ethel in 1977 in Devils Lake, North Dakota.
My father, Richard Mortimer, was the third to youngest child of George and Ethel. He was born in Sarles in 1934. In 1954, Dad found himself in Glasgow, Montana where he married my mother, Lois Bergstrom. Richard Mortimer died in an auto accident in 1969, leaving a widow with five children. He was the son of Frederick Webster and Caroline Rich.

Margaret married Marshall Melbourne in 1931 and my mother Doris was born a year later. I was born in Mexborough and ironically now live in Melbourne..
