David Abraham Bland

     David Abraham Bland was born on 9 February 1876 in Drinkstone, Suffolk. He was the son of Charles Bland and Abi Lock. Charles, Elijah, David, Thirza and Edith were listed as the children of Charles Bland in the 1881 census in the Green, Drinkstone. Charles, David, Edith, Cecil, John, Arthur and Horace were listed as the children of Charles Bland in the 1891 census in Rattlesden Rd, Drinkstone. David was a chef on the White Star/Cunard line He began his career when a labourer at the local mansion house. The cook there persuaded him to go to London and train as a chef. He later trained in Paris and was Chef Commodore of the White Star /Cunard Line. He was later given the Freedom of the City of Atlanta, USA.
     Abraham David Bland married Maud Katie Roden on 5 September 1904 in West Derby RD, Lancashire.
     Abraham David Bland married secondly Elsie May Roden on 16 July 1914 in Liverpool, West Derby RD, Lancashire.
     David died on 25 January 1947 in Southampton, Hampshire, aged 70. He was cremated in Southampton.
