     Jonathan Cocksedge was also known as John in records. He was born in 1872 in Bradfield St George, Suffolk. He was the son of Isaac Cocksedge and Ann Snell. Jonathan Cocksedge was christened on 6 July 1873 in Bradfield St George. George, Jonathan, William, Annie, Martina and Henrietta were listed as the children of Isaac Cocksedge in the 1881 census in Great Green, Bradfield St George.
     Jonathan Cocksedge married Annie Gladwell on 25 September 1890 in Bradfield St George, Suffolk. He was 19, a brickmaker and she was 17. He was the son of Isaack, brickmaker and she was the daughter of Henry, labourer. Witnesses were Isaac & Anne Cocksedge and all made their mark.
Another descendant claims they married at Haughley & had 15 children, only one is still alive, her uncle Harold Cocksedge.
John and Annie moved to Denaby Main in South Yorkshire, then to the next villiage of Conisbrough (where she lives) a couple of years later.
     Jonathan Cocksedge and Annie Gladwell appeared on the 1891 census in Fallwood? St, Bradfield St George. Jonathan Cocksedge, aged 19, brickmaker, born BSG with his wife Annie aged 17 born Fornham St Martin and their daugher Emma aged 4 months, born at BSG.      
Jonathan Cocksedge moved to Denaby Main, Conisbrough, Yorkshire, circa 1892.

     In John Cocksedge's will dated 20 December 1693 in Rougham, Suffolk, Joseph Cocksedge was named as heir; His will mentions his wife Margery and his six children John, Thomas, Mary, Robert, Peter & Joseph and his cousin William Cocksedge of Rougham.
In the name of God amen I John Cocksedge of Rougham Sfk yeoman being unsound in body by reason of old age but otherwise in good health and of perfect mind and memory blessed be God do make and ordain this my last will and testament this twentieth day of December in the fifth year of the reign of our Sov. lord and Lady King William and Queen Mary over England Scotland France & Ireland Defenders of the Faith ... and in the year of our Lord 1693. First I commend my soul unto the hands of Almighty God my maker in the moderation of Jesus Christ my blessed saviour and redeemer my body I committ to the earth to be decently buried and for my wordly estate I dispose thereof as followeth:
ITEM I give unto my son John Cocksedge the house where I now dwell with the home sitting thereunto adjoining conteyning six acres more or less for terme of his life and after his decease to the heirs of his body lawfully begotten for ever
ITEM I give unto Margery my loving wife the tenement where my son John Cocksedge now dwells during her natural life and after her decease to my son John Cocksedge and to the heirs of the his body lawfully begotten for ever
ITEM I give and devise unto Margery my wife the inclosed piece of land lying in Easty Feild by London Road containing three acres more or less and I give unto Margery my wife three other acres of land lying in Easty Feild more or less during her natural life and after the decease of the said Margery I give the six acres of land to be sold and the money for which the said land is sold to be equally divided among these my children here named Thomas Cocksedge Mary Cocksedge Robert Cocksedge William Cocksedge Peter Cocksedge Joseph Cocksedge excepting my daughter Mary Cocksedge and to her I give five pounds of lawfull English money more than to any of my other children out of that money the land shall be sold for. If any of these my children dye before the money be payable then I bequeath their portion or parts to the survivors and I request my cosen William Cocksedge of Rougham to assist my children in the sale of this land
Further my will and meaning is that if the said Margery my wife shall happen to marry again or to be marryed to any man after my decease then and in such case the six acres of land more or less lying in or nigh Easty Feild and in this my will before mentioned I give and devise the said six acres of land after such the second marriage to be forthwith sold and the money to be disposed of after the same manner to those my six children in this my will before mentioned and my desire is if my son John Cocksedge can or will purchase the said six acres of land that he may have it as cheap or cheaper than any other person all the rest and residue of my goods & chattels Cowes Houses and all manner of Household stuffe whatsoever I doe hereby give and devise unto Margery my wife for the payment of my debts funerall charges and performance of this my will which said Margery my wife I make constitute and appoint Executor of my last will and testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the marke of John Cocksedge published sealed and subscribed for my last will and testament in the presence of Geo Turner Richard Noble the marks of Thomazin Noble.

     Joseph died before 8 March 1709/10 in Rougham, Suffolk. He was buried on 8 March 1709/10 in Rougham.

     Joseph died in late July or 1 August 1822. Aged 53, Joseph Cocksedge ... he was many years farming bailiff to the late Mr George Harvey of Culford. This entry makes it impossible to be the Joseph born in 1784, however his son Isaac was later farm bailiff at Culford. He was buried on 1 August 1822 in St Mary, Culford.
