Henry George Ruby

(26 February 1912 - 6 May 1938)
     Henry George Ruby was born on 26 February 1912 in Powlett River, Victoria. He was the son of William Sergeant Ruby and Lily Lloyd.
     Henry was educated from August 1917 at the State School, Lance Creek, Victoria. He was pupil no. 46 at Lance Creek State School in August 1917, son of W S Ruby farmer, of Lance Creek, living 1/4 mile from the school until he departed for Wonthaggi S.S.
     Henry died on 6 May 1938 in Orbost, Victoria, aged 26. Mr George Ruby, 27 years, a representative of the Temperance and General Assurance Society, booked a room at the Commonwealth Hotel, Orbost, on Wednesday last with the intention of staying a week on business. He went to bed on Friday night and was found at 9.30 next morning dead in his bed with a book beside him. His sudden death came as a blow to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Ruby. West Preston.. Mr. Ruby was formerly a resident of Yarram, and resided at Maffra for some time.. He was buried in Orbost. In the Methodist section.
     His will was proved on 19 December 1938? At Victoria. Henry G Ruby, insurance official of Maffra, died 6 May 1938.

Lily Dorothy Ruby

     She was a mothercraft nurse, and also worked as a kindergarten teacher, office secretary and missionary. She recorded gospel messages for primitive tribes.. Lily Dorothy Ruby was born on 23 October 1916 in Kongwak, Victoria. She gave her birthdate as 23 Oct 1917 when returning to Australia in 1972, but in 1965 she gave 1916.. She was the daughter of William Sergeant Ruby and Lily Lloyd.
     Lily Dorothy Ruby lived at 306/8 Robinsons Road, Baxter, Victoria, 1995.

William Sergeant Ruby

(3 May 1915 - 15 September 1977)
     William Sergeant Ruby was also known as William Sargeant in records. He was born on 3 May 1915 in Lance Creek, Victoria. He was the son of William Sergeant Ruby and Lily Lloyd.
     William Sergeant Ruby married Mabel Evelyn Steenholdt on 21 January 1936 in Kilcunda, Victoria.
     William was a farmer, shearer and a stock agent.
     William died on 15 September 1977 in Anderson, Victoria, aged 62. He was cremated on 16 September 1977 in The Necropolis, Springvale.
     His will was proved on 12 May 1978 at Victoria.
