     Ann Garrett married William Ruby, son of John Ruby and Elizabeth Carpenter, on 8 September 1839 in Abbotskerswell, Devon. They were both of this parish, witnessed by Edward Garrett & Elizabeth Ruby.
     Ann died on 22 June 1888 in Heavy Tree Road, near Petty Harbour, Newfoundland, Canada. Deceased was the widow of the late William Ruby, and a native of Abbotskerswell, co. Devon, Engand. She died at her residence, Heavy Tree Road, near Petty Harbour.

     In Michaelmas term 1585, Bridget [daughter of Sir William Gascoigne of Gawthorpe], widow of Matthew Redman claimed against Anthony Mawde, gent, one third of 13 messuages and lands in Dunkeswicke, as her dower. The defendant said that she ought not to have dower because she left her husband at Harewood and went to live in adultery with William Gascoigne, esq. at Caley and lived with him until the death of Matthew. The plaintiff denied this. To be tried by a jury. Result not found. [Common Pleas Roll, Mich 27-8 Eliz. m.2405]..

     A contract for the marriage of Elizabeth Gascoigne and Robert Ryther was signed before 1509. His contracted wife Elizabeth, the daughter of Sir William Gascoigne of Gawthorpe, afterwards (by 1510) married Richard Redman who was Lord of Harewood from 1530. They were children, and the marriage terminated with the death of young Robert Ryther, probably around 1508 or so.
     Elizabeth Gascoigne married Robert Redman as her second husband, circa 1510..

Elizabeth Gascoigne

     Elizabeth Gascoigne was the daughter of William Gascoigne.
     Elizabeth Gascoigne married John Aske. In the Visitation under Aske she is described as daughter of the Chief Justice, but under Gascoigne/Gaskon she is probably the sister of the Chief Justice. The History and Antiquities of Harewood by John Jones (1859) pp 54 - 55 gives Elizabeth, wife of John Aske as the sister rather than the daughter of Chief Judge William Gascoigne. It further says his second wife Joan was the daughter of Sir William Pickering and relict of Sir Ralph Greystoke, Baron of the Exchequer.
