(before 1710 - 5 January 1784)

Robert Popplewell and Mary Burkitt obtained a marriage licence before 7 July 1731 in Bottesford, Lincolnshire, England. Robert Popplewell & Mary Burkett, aged 22, spinster, to be married at Bottesford or Scotter, neither of the parish.
Robert Popplewell married Mary Burkitt on 7 July 1731 in Bottesford, Lincolnshire. However her hsuband may have been John of Scotter. A Robert & Mary Popple had children baptised at Messingham: William on 25 July 1762 , Mary 18 Jan 1765 and Anne 26 June 1770 but these seem to be a generation out..
Robert was was a glover in Messingham from 1738. As they were both glovers, he is likely to be connected to George Poppelwell, glover & citizen of London. He is possibly the son of the John Popplewell of Messingham whose estate was administered in 1728. He took an apprentice glover for 6 years.
