     Leonard George Ruby married Jean Mapley Wright, daughter of Houghton Robert Wright and Edith Emily Moore, on 13 October 1929 in Albert Park, Victoria.

     Leonard served in the Army (V355558) between 1942 and 1945. He enlisted 22 arch 1942 at Yarram, living at Woodside, his next of kin was Jean Ruby. He was discharged 24Sep 1945 as a private in the 12th Battalion.
     Leonard was registered as a farmer at Balloong, Victoria, on the 1949 electoral roll.
     He bought his father's farm with a loan from Hugh Bland. He worked for Mavis & Henry McKenzie at one stage. Resided in Tasmania and Woodside. He was a skilled farmer who embraced the philosophy that a man was only the steward of his soil, and espoused organic and conservation farming methods a generation before the late 20th century movement emerged.
     Leonard George Ruby made a will dated 1982? In Ulverstone. His will mentions his children Merleen & Trevor and his wfie Nellie Winifred. He was described as a retired farmer of Bajzelj Beach Rd.
     Leonard died of acute myeloid luekemia before 12 February 1983 in Victoria. On 14th according to his daughter Helen. He was cremated on 12 February 1983 in The Necropolis, Springvale.
     His will was proved on 30 March 1983 at Tasmania.
