Sir Dudley Ryder

     Sir Dudley Ryder was born on 4 November 1691 in Hackney, London, Middlesex, England. He was the second son.. He was the son of Richard Ryder and Elizabeth Marshall.
     Wikipedia states: RYDER, Sir DUDLEY (1691–1756), lord chief justice of the king's bench, born 4 Nov. 1691, was the second son of Richard Ryder, a mercer in West Smithfield. His mother's maiden name was Marshall. His grandfather, the Rev. Dudley Ryder (d. 1683), lost a good estate owing to an uncle's dislike of his puritan principles; he was a graduate of Magdalene College, Cambridge, was ejected from his living at Bedworth, Warwickshire, after the passing of the Act of Uniformity, and, after much suffering, was received into the family of Sir Samuel Clark. Both his sons were tradesmen, one at Nuneaton and the other in Smithfield, the latter, Dudley Ryder, being father of John Ryder (1697?–1775).
     He was educated at a Dissenting Academy at Hackney. It is said that "his success in prosecuting his forensic duties was secured by his abitlities, his atention, and his punctuality". Dudley was a barrister.      
Sir Dudley Ryder was MP for St Germans in 1733 and Tiverton 1733-54.
     Sir Dudley Ryder married Ann Newnham on 1 November 1733 in St Leonard, Streatham, Surrey. Dudley Ryderof Lincolns Inn esq and Mrs Ann Newnham of this parish were married by licence. They obtained a Faculty Office licence on 30 Oct 1733.. Dudley was Chief Justice of the Court of the King's Bench between 1754 and 1756.
     Dudley died on 25 May 1756 aged 64. This was the day after a warrant was signed to enoble him. He was buried in Grantham, Lincolnshire.
     His will was proved in June 1756 at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury.
