     Jane Harington Sutherland Steer was also known as Janet in records. She was born on 24 September 1834 in Monghyr, India. She was the daughter of Charles Steer and Caroline Thompson. Jane Harington Sutherland Steer was christened on 11 October 1834 in Monghyr.

     Charles Boyes Steer was born on 27 March 1836 in Bhagulpore, Bihar, Bengal Presidency, India. He was the son of Charles Steer and Caroline Thompson. Charles Boyes Steer was christened on 5 March 1837 in Bhagulpore.
     The marriage of Charles Boyes Steer and Emilie Hume F Harrison was registered in Kensington RD, Middlesex, in the September 1879 quarter. Her sister Lady Arthur Hill was in the music business and wrote the famous Victorian Parlour song "In the Gloaming". She may be the Emilie Steer who married in 1911 in the Chelmsford district.
