He was appointed sub lieutenant in the Royal Naval Reserve, 30 June 1890.
George Francis Stanser Ingles married Alice Stanley in 1892. The Belfast newsletter 6 Aug 1892 announced: Jan 26, at St Mary Abbott's Kensington, London, by the Rev W ? Kerr, Georgre Fracis Stanser, second son of Major W L Ingles, lated 32nd and 16th Regiments, to Alice Stanley, daughte of the late Rev Edmond Stanley Stanley, B.A., J .P. for county Pembrokeshire.
She re-married Owen Andrew Armstrong (1851-1913)..
     George died was drowned in the sinking of the P&O liner "Bokhara" on 10 October 1892 aged 30. The ship struck rocks off the Pescadores Islands (Near Formosa/in the Straits of Formosa) and George, serving as 2nd Officer, was drowned along with 124 other passengers and crew.
     His will was proved on 9 December 1892. Probate was granted to Alice Stanley. He was of 159 Holland Rd, Kensington Mdx.

He became District Surveyor, March 1897; Assistant and Superintendent, May 1897; Acting Superintendent of Trigometrical Survey, January 1902; Acting Assistant Surveyor-General, June 1908, and Surveyor-General, November 1915. He also became a Member of the Legislative Council and was a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. Ingles also served in the Ceylon Volunteers. After serving in the ranks of the Ceylon Planters Rifle Corps, he was appointed a 2nd Lieutenant in the Ceylon Volunteer Artillery on 13 February 1909. He was promoted to Lieutenant, February 1911, and a Captain on the Reserve in September 1915 on receiving his appointment as Surveyor-General, Ceylon. He was mobilised for War Service in Ceylon, 6 August 1914-24 September 1915. After the Great War he returned to the Active List, being appointed a Captain in October 1921, and became a Major on the Reserve in September 1923. Ingles was awarded the Colonial Auxiliary Forces L.S. Medal by the Ceylon Government Gazette of 11 November 1921, and the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers’ Decoration by the Ceylon Government Gazette of 16 January 1925. Charles Inglis (1734 – 24 February 1816) was an Irish clergyman who was consecrated the first Anglican Church of Canada bishop of the Diocese of Nova Scotia. He is buried in the crypt of St. Paul's Church (Halifax). John Inglis was a Church of England bishop; b. 9 Dec. 1777 in New York City, son of the Reverend Charles Inglis* and Margaret Crooke; m. 31 Aug. 1802 Elizabeth Cochran (Cochrane) in Windsor, N.S., and they had eight children; d. 27 Oct. 1850 in London. ... Major Ingles was ADC to the General Commanding the Forces in Ceylon in 1859. He came out again in 1897 to stay with his son H L S Ingles of Melfort estate, and died four days after his arrival. He has other sons in Ceylon, Walter Culpepper Stanser Ingles of the Survey Department and Robert Stanser Ingles. A daughter, now the wife of Mr R A Powell, Public Works Department, was with him at the time of his death. He was buried on 4 May 1897 in Holy Trinity, Pussellawa, Kandy, Ceylon/Sri Lanka. Major Walter Lawrence Ingles late 32nd 3nd & 16th Regiment of Melfort Pussellawa died and buried 4 May 1897 aged 81. He had been ADC othe General Commaner Forces in Ceylon in 1859.
