     James Samuel Cocksedge was born on 21 February 1819 in Lambeth, Surrey. He was the son of James Cocksedge and Harriet Shearing.
James Samuel Cocksedge married Mary Ann Woods, daughter of James Woods and Elizabeth Cocksedge, on 23 March 1848 in Stowmarket, Stow RD, Suffolk.
Agreement dated 26 April 1870 between James Samuel Cocksedge, of Stowmarket, ironfounder, James Woods of Stowmarket, gent, Edmund Freeman Woods of Stowmarket, ironfounder, John W C C Morrison and George G Nicol of London, trustees and the North Britiah and Mercantile Insurance Company.
He was the founder of Cocksedge & Co. Ltd and his son JWA Cocksedge became a partner.
     James died on 13 June 1887 in Ipswich, Suffolk, aged 68.
     The administration of his estate was granted to James Woods Arthur Cocksedge on 9 July 1887 at Ipwich. Administration (with will) of James Samuel Cocksedge, of Ipswich, ironfounder was granted to James Woods Arthur Cocksedge, of 13 St Peters St, Ipswich, ironfounder, son and one of the residuary legatees.

     James Woods Arthur Cocksedge was christened on 1 January 1857 in Stowmarket, Suffolk. He was the son of James Samuel Cocksedge and Mary Ann Woods.
James Woods Arthur Cocksedge was apprenticed on 12 February 1872. James Woods Arthur Cocksedge, son of James Samuel Cocksedge of Stowmarket, ironfounder apprenticed to Edmund Freeman Woods, James Samuel Cocksedge and Edward Warner of the ironworks, Stowmarket trading under the firm of Woods, Cocksedge and Warner.
The business in Grey Friars Road consisted of a small foundry, a pattern shop and an engineering shop and it employed 12 men. A few years later Mr Cocksedge took his son, Mr JWA Cocksedge into partnership. Mr JWA Cocksedge has for some years previously been gaining experience with two large engineering firms in London. Business increased and when the original premises became too small they were supplemented by the acquisition of an additional building situated on the other side of the road.
     Administration of the estate of James Samuel Cocksedge was granted to James Woods Arthur Cocksedge, on 9 July 1887 in Ipwich Administration (with will) of James Samuel Cocksedge, of Ipswich, ironfounder was granted to James Woods Arthur Cocksedge, of 13 St Peters St, Ipswich, ironfounder, son and one of the residuary legatees.
     James died on 20 May 1928 in Ipwich, Suffolk, aged 71.
