     John Keen and Mary Mason were recorded on the 1861 census in Garden House, Lower Slaughter, Stow on the Wold RD. John Keen, aged 70, gardener, born Lower Slaughter Mary Keen, his wife, aged 69, born Naunton, Gls.
     John died between 1862 and 1864?. A John Keen died in the March quarter of 1864 in the Shipston on Stour RD and another in 1862 at Chipping Norton.
He was not found on the 1871 census - he may have been in a workhouse, etc. which often only gives initials. He was buried on 15 July 1871 in Lower Slaughter.
     John may have died before 1 October 1871 in Stow on the Wold RD, Gloucestershire.

Joseph was listed in the household of Valentine Keen as a grandchild in the 1861 census in Farm House Cottage, Lower Slaughter, Gloucestershire. Valentine Keen, head, 40, ag. lab., his wife Tryphena, 44, children Mary Ann, 17, unmarried, Valentine 12, all born at Lower Slaughter, grandson Joseph 10 months, born Stow. Joseph Valentine Keen was educated in 1864 in Lower Slaughter, Gloucestershire. In 1864 Joseph attended Lower Slaughter school, and his parent/guardian was recorded as Thomas Castle - it would seem Mary Ann left home between 1861 & 1864. Joseph attended school in Bourton on the Water before Lower Slaughter so maybe they lived there in 1863?. Joseph was domestic gardener between 1881 and 1948.
Joseph Valentine Keen married Mary Ann Walker on 25 December 1883 in Badsey, Worcestershire.
     Joseph died on 16 April 1951 in Yard, Godsill, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, aged 90. He was buried on 20 April 1951 in Brighstone, Isle of Wight, Hampshire.

Mary Keen married John Rich, son of Amor Rich and Ann Wroe, on 7 February 1802 in St George, Hanover Square, Soho, Westminster, England.
     Mary Keen and John Rich were recorded on the 1841 census in Adelaide Square, New Windsor, Berkshire. John Rich aged 70, Independent, Mary aged 60, Edward aged 3. None were born in the county, with one female sevant..
     Mary Keen and John Rich were recorded on the 1851 census in 18 Adelaide Square, New Windsor, Berkshire. John was aged 82 , annuitant, born Stainbrough, Yorkshire, with his wife Mary aged 74 born in Adlestrop, Gloucestershire, with one servant. There was also a William Rich aged 57, Lt in the R. Navy, half pay. Naval Knight, unmarried at New Windsor, but born in Burnham Market, Norfolk.
     Mary died on 27 July 1852 in Ewell, Surrey, aged 75. She was buried on 2 August 1852 in Ewell. Headstone, coffin & foot stones, headstone split in half and broken off. Monumental inscription recorded at Ewell: Sacred to the memory of Mary beloved wife of Mr John Rich of this parish late of New Windsor Berkshire, who died 27 July 1852 aged 75 years also the above named John Rich who died Nov 21 1856 aged 88 yrs. No trace in 1993, adjacent & similar stones photographed.
