Horatio was an ex Captain, aged 64, living at a hotel in Tyrrellspass (presumably Tyrrellspass House) with his wife Alice aged 53 (ie born c1858) and born in Westmeath, and daughter Norah, aged 26, born in Dublin city.

     Cyril Dermott Somers was born circa 1897 in Westmeath. He was the eldest son. He was the son of Rev Samuel Handy Somers and Ida Rebecca MacEnnery.
     Cyril died on 20 March 1917 in Arras, France. He was a 2nd Lt inthe Inniskilling Fusilliers.

     Honor Mary Somers's birth was registered in the quarter ending in September 1915 in Scarriff RD, Clare. She was the daughter of Rev Samuel Handy Somers and Ida Rebecca MacEnnery.
     Honor died of dropsy as a teenager on 30 March 1930 aged 14.

     Jeanette died on 7 April 1882 in 'Moyally', Horseleap?, Tullamore, Offaly, Ireland, aged 37. The house was built by Joseph Pim North after they married. This house was an addition to an older existing house that had been built in the 1700's and was in bad repair. They probably finished the house around 1874. In 1882, 15 years after they married, Jeanette Gertrude died a month after giving birth to her last child, of an intestinal infection, something that would be easily treatable with today's medicine, but in those times proved fatal.

     Jeff Somers was born in Ireland. He was the son of Rev Samuel Handy Somers and Ida Rebecca MacEnnery.
     Jeff died in Burma.

     John Richard Somers was born in 1814 in Tyrrellspass, Westmeath, Ireland. He was the eldest son of Richard Somers of Tyrrellspass, by Anne Sarah Fouance, daughter of Thomas Fouance also of Tyrrellspass. He was the son of Richard Somers and Anne Sarah Fouace.
He was a JP of Tyrrellspass, Killucan, Co Westmeath, and of Friarsland, Dundrum, Co Dublin. In 1836 John Richard married Maria Jane Handy, of the above deed when she was a widow, 6th daughter of Samuel Handy of Bracca Castle, Co Westmeath, and “has with other issue”, Richard John, late Captain 11th Hussars; born 1838, married 1870 Jane, a daughter of the Rev Peter Marsh.

From all this it is clear that Horatio married Alice Louisa Emily Somers, a daughter of John Richard Somers (born 1814 and died before 1895; an extract of his will in the National Archives records his death on 5 October 1894 at 41 Wellington Road; his executors were Marcus Anthony Levings of Newpark, Athlone, Co Roscommon, and Colonel James Henry Dopping of Bellavista, Blackrock (Eva Mullooly email 3 Apr 2008)) of Tyrrellspass House in Westmeath, and of Friarsland, Co Dublin, and Maria Jane Handy, 6th daughter of Samuel Handy of Bracca Castle, Co Westmeath. Alice had at least one brother, Captain Richard John Somers..

There is a monument to them at Mountshannon. His wife predeceased him by 11 years.

     James Somerville was mentioned in the 1666 hearth tax list in Enniskillen, Fermanagh.
James Somerville married fourthly Anna Catherina Grubbe-Stjernfelt on 14 December 1670 in Ireland. He was her fourth husband. The marriage licence was dated 14 December 1670. He was of Tullykelter but then staying at Tallaght. He was a Captain of Horse and they had one son and one daughter.
     James Somerville and George Dunbar were mentioned in a civil court action on 24 May 1671. Chancery bill, between Irwin pltf & Callwell & Somerville defts: Christopher Irwin of Edinburgh, Doctor of Physic, sheweth that William Cathcart of Bardonagh, co. Fermanagh, was about 1614 possessed of Dromcroe, Drumborony, Courtloone and Turnagowan in the proportion of Dromcroe, together with the barrs of the mountains in the barony of Magheraboy by lease of 61 years to him made by John Dunbar kt, at £10 per acre. About 1639 William Cathcart did sell the said lands, together with the barrs of the mountains thereto belonging for the remainder of the term for the sum of £300, paid to him by Christopher Irwin of Lowtherstown, dec. father of your orator. He further sheweth that Geo Dunbar of Braugh in the said county, gent. brother of the sd John Dunbar, being seized of one great tate of land called the Braugh, together with Killybeg and ? Comehill, being barrs of the mountains thereto belonging, did jointly with his brother John Dunbar, enfeofe Christopher Irwin of the same in 1637. Your orator's father in 1639, in consideration of the marriage of your orator, with Margaret Wishart, daughter of James Wishart of Glenteverin in the said county, settled said lands and said lease on your orator, who continued in quiet possession till the rebellion of 1641. Orator's father had some years before his death become bound to Sir Gerard Lowther for a debt of £50 due by Mary Callwell, widow, afterwards married to Henry Longford of Enniskillen, which he (Irwin) had to pay. Some controversy having arisen between Longford and himself, the whole matter was referred to Dean Bartley of Clogher, and Mr Hugh Bartley of Lifford co. Donegal, clerk, who ordered Longford to repay to Christopher Irwin, the £50, which was accordingly done, yet in 1653 Longford made his complaint to one Colonel Barrow, a colonel under the usurped powers, who committed Chr. Irwin to gaol, till he should either repay the £50, or give surety to abide by an arbitration. Thereupon Chr. Irwin did about the 10 June 1653, did engage the quarterland great tate and the premises to Henry and Mary Longford & James Callwell, son of the said Mary, with the condition that if Christopher Irwin should not bring his arbitrator, Major Hugh Ross, to Enniskillen, to end all differences between the said parties, and to stand to certain arbitrators not named in the deed, or to an umpire to be chosen, the the said deed of mortgage to remain in full force. No award was ever made; yet Henry and Mary Longford, (who took the management upon her), got possession of the said lands; and Henry being deceased, she made them over to James Callwell, who sold them to Richard Dunbar, late of Derrygonnelly, grandchild to said John Dunbar; who left the four great tates or quarterland of Drumcroe & Drumborony, Callone, Turmagowan and Barwinlahorke, with the barrs of the mountains, between Dame Anna Catherina Hamilton alias Dunbar, his widow and relict, since married to James Somerwell of Tullykelter and Catherine Dunbar, an infant of about 3 years of age, daughter of Sir Richard & Anna Catherina; and the other great tate of Braugh to William Dunbar of Kilcow, co. Fermanagh. He therefor prays that they may be put upon their title by oath etc.
     James Somerville and Richard Dunbar were mentioned in a civil court action on 13 November 1672. Chancery bill of Garrard Graham, plaintiff & Somervill deft, relating to lands in co. Sligo, which had been let on 4 January 1658 by Richard Dunbar, to orator. His widow Anna Catherina and her husband James Somerwell were not in possession of the rents, Graham was a near relation of the said Richard and Anna Catherina, and at their request did until 1670, pay the full rent of £4 a year, without making any deduction for some land taken away by one Dodwell. The land had improved in value, the lease had been lost and Somerwell had, it was alleged, combined with one Richard Phipps to evict Graham.
James Somerville was mentioned on 11 July 1683.
     James died before 11 September 1687 in Tullykelter, Fermanagh, Ireland.
     The administration of his estate was granted to Anna Catherina Grubbe-Stjernfelt on 11 September 1687 at the Prerogative Court of Armagh, Ireland.
     James Somerville was mentioned in a court case on 24 June 1688. Somervill, plaintiff v. Dunbar. This chancery bill shews that Lady Anna Catherina Somervill alias Dunbar, about 21 years since, being married to Richard Dunbar, he being sickly, made his last will and testament (being seized in fee of Drumcroe etc) and devised unto oratrix, who then his wife & big with child, the proportion of Drumcroe during the minority of the child, and half to the child when of age, and half to herself for life, with remainder to the said child in fee. That he soon after died, being seized of the lands. Oratrix entered into the said lands, and was soon after delivered of a child which happened to be a daughter, and was christened Catherine. Oratrix continued quietly in possession, till John Dunbar, esq. about five or six years last past, commenced a suit against James Somervill, deceased & her then husband, herself and the said Catherine, endeavouring to prove that Richard had only an estate tail, to him and the heirs male of his body, with remainder to him the said John Dunbar. A commission sat at Belleek in the said county Fermanagh, to which Jas Somervill took Richard Dunbar's will, and left it on a table. It was taken up & removed by Thomas Hardcastle and Andrew Hamilton, commissioners for the said John Dunbar, who gave it to him. She prays that they may be called to answer certain queries about the will. [The researcher could not find this will in the PRO]..

     John resided at Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

     Sidney Somerville was born after 1670 in Ireland. She was the daughter of James Somerville and Anna Catherina Grubbe-Stjernfelt.
Sidney Somerville married Col John Caulfield. They had a son and a daughter. See Lodge's Peerage for more detail.
     Sidney died on 4 July 1725 in Dublin.

     Margaret de Somery (Bassett) was born before 1250 in Dudley, Worcestershire, England. Daughter of Roger de Somery & his wife Nicole D'Aubigny, widow of Ralph.. She was the daughter of Roger de Somery and Nicole Unknown.
     Margaret de Somery (Bassett) married Ralph de Cromwell as his second wife, before 26 January 1270/71.
     Margaret died after 1293.

     Roger de Somery married Nicole Unknown. She was the widow of Ralph D'Aubigny.

     Joan le Soor married John Arundell, son of Remfrey Arundell and Alice de Lanherne. She was the daughter of Ralph (or John Soor & Rosea Pridias).
He married Joan, daughter and heiress of Ralph le Soor (this marriage resulted in the Arundells acquiring the manors of Prospidnick and Tolverne in the early 15th century)..
     Joan died after 1334. Discussion on Gen-Mediaeval mailing list as to the identity of Joan, wife and widow of John Arundel I, show doubt and a lack of evidence to identify her as a Sor or Soor of Tolverne. None of the lands held by John's widow Joan in dower were Sor lands. But no contemporary Sor daughter could have been an heiress, since all the 14th century Sor males had male successors; so Louise's observation does not prove that Joan was NOT a Sor.

     Emily Harriet Grace Soper married Arthur Wellesley Cowley, son of Frank Cowley and Kate Isobel Phillips, in 1903 in Queensland.

     Eleanor Sordbie married Anthony Steer on 26 August 1660 in Darley, Derbyshire.

     Milton Aloysius Sorrell married Harriet Medora Ross, daughter of Almon Thomas Johnson and Nellie Fayette Trefry. Milton Aloysius Sorrell was born in 1892.

     Ermengarde de Soulis was born circa 1285. She was the daughter of William de Soulis and Ermengarde Durward.
Ermengarde de Soulis married Patrick (V) Dunbar 9th Earl, son of Patrick (IV) Dunbar 8th Earl and Marjory Comyn, circa 1303. This Earl married, first, Ermigarda, who, in 1303, and also on 26 June 1304, being then pregnant, received a cask of new wine as a present from King Edward I. The Earl apparently had children by her.

     Nicholas de Soulis was the son of William de Soulis and Ermengarde Durward.
Soules, Dominus Nicholaus de (miles), (Nicol de Soules, chiualer). ' - swore allegiance to King Edward I at Berwick, 1291 Ragman Roll.
     Nicholas died in 1296.

     William de Soulis married Ermengarde Durward, daughter of Alan Durward and Margery, of Scotland,.

     Mary Elizabeth South was christened on 26 April 1799 in St Saviour, Southwark, Surrey. She was the daughter of James & Mary.
Mary Elizabeth South married Hamor Rich, son of John Rich and Mary Keen, on 8 November 1832 in Christ Church, Southwark, Surrey. Hamor Rich, bachelor & Mary Elizabeth South, spinster, both of this parish, by licence.
     Mary Elizabeth South and Hamor Rich were recorded on the 1841 census in Newington, St Mary, Surrey. Hamor Rich, 40, gent, born in the county, with Mary Rich, 40 ditto.
     Mary Elizabeth South was recorded on the 1851 census in Marshfield, Gloucestershire. Mary Elizabeth Rich, visitor, widow aged 51 , born Borough, London, in the household of Thomas James & Mary Ann Robinson adn their three children. He was curate of Marshfield.
     Mary Elizabeth South was mentioned in the will of John Rich dated 2 November 1855.
     Mary Elizabeth South was recorded on the 1861 census in 103/183 Lisson Grove, St Marylebone, Westminster, Middlesex. Mary Elizabeth Rich, visitor, widow, 61, fundholder, born Boro of Southwark, Surrey, with Charles Smith Robinson, surgeon, 46, and his wife Mary Jane aged 46.
     Mary died in 1866?. A Mary E Rich death was registered in the Lewisham RD in the Dec quarter of 1866 (1d/436). BLackheath parish register gives the burial on Oct 13th, Mary Elizabeth Rich, aged 67, abode Morden Head, Blackheath.

     George Southern married Margaret Cook Trull, daughter of John Trull and Margaret Cook, on 14 January 1794 in St Peter Mancroft, Norwich, Norfolk.

     Angelina (Ann) Southgate (possibly) married Robert Buxton, son of Thomas Buxton and Sarah Fuller, Dec 1/4 of 1853 in Stow RD, Suffolk. Angelina (Ann) Southgate (possibly) was born circa 1829 in Shelland, Suffolk.

     Alfred Southgate was born in 1847.
Alfred Southgate married Sophia Cocksedge, daughter of John Cocksedge and Mary Unknown, in 1875 in Stow RD, Suffolk. See Helen Catchpoles file southgatecatchpole.pdf for details of descendants.
     Alfred died in 1894.

     George Southgate was born in 1886 in Edmonton, London.
George Southgate married Lillian Mary Cocksedge, daughter of Charles Cocksedge and Charlotte Yonge, on 4 March 1911. They lived in Southgate, Middlesex and George worked for the London General Post office, he became Postmaster of Southgate Post office.
     George died in 1950.
