     Charles William Ernest Bland was born on 3 December 1881 in Yarram, Victoria. He was the son of William Bland and Sarah Ann Scott.
Charles William Ernest Bland married Matilda Maud May, daughter of John George May and Emma Heath, on 26 August 1907 in Victoria. Charles was a farmer & grazier in Yarram between 1934 and 1954.
He was the Methodist Circuit steward between 1935 and 1939, and left a bequest to the church - there is a plaque in the porch. See Victoria & the Riverina for further details.
     Charles was registered at Yarram on the 1949 electoral roll.
     Charles died in March 1961 in 'Leura', Yarram, aged 79. He was cremated on 22 March 1961 in The Necropolis, Springvale.

The funeral of Mr David Bland. On Tuesday afternoon the funeral of the late Mr David Bland, a very old and much respected inhabitant of the village of Bradfield St George, was well attended by a large congregation from the neighbourhood. Pastor W Dixon, of BSE, and Paster A Morling, of Stoke Ash, took part in the service, the first portion of which was held in the chapel, where Paster Dixon eulogised the deceased as one who had for many years been a regular attendant in that place of worship as a deacon. There were present Mrs Charles Bland and Mrs John Bland sister-in-law), Mrs Charles Bland (nephew), Mrs & Mrs Mortimer (niece of Cockfield), Mrs & Mrs Edwards (Drinkstone), Mrs John Bland (nephew, also of Drinkstone), Mr & Mrs Thompson of Rougham, the lady being a niece; Mr Horace Last, a nephew of Thetford; Mrs William Bland of Hessett, niece; Mrs Dixon and Mrs & Mrs J C Ridley of BS; Mrs & Mrs W J Mortlock (Sapiston), Mrs H Mortlock (Finningham), Mr & Mrs W C Hitchcock (Pakenham), Mrs & Mrs Walter Clarke (Gt Whelnetham), Mr J Squirrell and Mr F Squirrell (Hessett), Mr Edwards (a nephew of deceased) of the Royal Engineers; Mrs & Mrs Walter Morley (Gt Barton), Mrs & Mrs Brown, Mrs & Mrs Bennett and son and Mrs Manning (Rougham), … and other inhabitants of Bradfield St George, The interment took place in the Baptist Burial ground, some distance from the chapel. On the breastplate of the oak coffin was the inscription: “David Bland died 26 April 1917, aged 91 years.. He was buried in April 1917 in Baptist Burial Ground, Bradfield St George.
