Elizabeth Leslie married James Dunbar, son of David Dunbar, before 16 January 1523/24. They had issue David who died before 28 May 1558 when his brother James was heir apparent of Tarbet. Euffon Dunbar married before 1535 to Andrew Monro of Milton (ancestor of Berton). Nicholas of Bogs who married a Brodie. (4) Archibald of Pennick who in 1560 bought Pennick from George Dunbar, brother of John of Bennetsfield & married Janet daughter of Alexander Tullock by contracted dated 25 July 1559 and had issue: Alex & James. James married Janet Hay and had issue Robert, James and Archibald who married 4 May 1682 .... Innes, daughter of Mr John Innes of Coxton and had James Dunbar of Balnagieth 1664 (5) James Dunbar of Tarbet & Dumphail - also of Sanquhar bought from Patrick of Sanquhar & Darkles. ... see Berthon.

Euphemia Leslie Countess of Ross

      On her father's death she was taken over by her grandfather Robert, Duke of Albany, Regent of Scotland, who by 1405 was calling himself lord of the ward of Ross. She resigned the earldom of Ross in 1415 in favour of her mother's brother John, Earl of Buchan.. Euphemia Leslie Countess of Ross was born after 1398 in Scotland. She was under 13 in 1411.. She was the daughter of Alexander Leslie 7th Earl of Ross and Isabel Stewart Countess of Ross (Haliburton).

Grissel Leslie

(circa 1540 - February 1596)
     Grissel Leslie was born circa 1540 in Balquhain, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. She was the daughter of Sir John Leslie of Balquhain.
Grissel Leslie married David Dunbar, son of John Dunbar. Berthon's pedigree states that David married Margaret Hay, daughter of John Hay of Lochlay & Janet Sutherland his wife. After the death of David she married by contract 15 March 1569 as her second husband Alexander Brodie of Brodie, she died 14 February 1609.
David Dunbar's marriage to Grissel Leslie was stormy, his wife leaving him and bringing an action for divorce in the Edinburgh Commissary Court, alleging that she could not obtain justice at Chanonry, where none "dar to uyrwayis nor hir said spowss commands tham quha is ane greit clamit man in the partis of Ross... And she being put away fra hir said spowsss for his uncurtess handeling of hir remains now besyde abirdene mair nor fowre scoir myllis from the chanrie of Ross" (CC8/2/7, 24 Nov 1575). The case proceeded inconclusively until 10 March 1581 (see CC/8/2/8 and 9), and at one stage sent William Cumming, town clerk of Inverness, in midwinter to within five miles of Aberdeen to summon Grissel to "aduer to hym and to return to hyr awyne biggyne" (NP1/32, 207r, 8 Jan 1578). For unknown reasons the couple eventually drew back from divorce, Grissel Leslie lived after her husband's death at Little Suddie, where she died in Feb 1596 (CC8/8/31, 36v-37v). There were no surviving children of the marriage, and Little Suddie passed to George Dunbar of Avoch, one of her executors.

     Grissel died in February 1596 in Lt Suddie, Avoch, Ross & Cromarty, Scotland. She died after her husband in February 1596 with no surviving children of the marriage and Little Suddie passed to George Dunbar of Avaoch, one of her executors. She was mentioned in the confirmation charter on 1 July 1596 relating to the late David Dunbar. Jul 1 1596 at Dumfermline: The King with advice etc. (45, 63, 61, 55, 47, 39, 37 51) issued confirmation that the late David Dunbar of Urquhart who for implemento contractus at Elgin in Moray dated 20 Aug 156_, - for 1200 merks full payment, and also for redemption of the lands of Urquhart with mill, sold to George Dunbar, rector of Kilmure, his heirs and assigns, (town &) lands of Litle Suddy exte[nden to dimediam davatum [half davoch?], with brewhouse & crofts near Inverness :-TENEND (sub reversione 1200 merc, said David & his legitimate male heirs of his body, procreatus solummodo, whom failing, said George his heirs and assigns quibuscunque) of Archbishop of Ross in feufarm :- REDDEND. said David unum den. albe firme ; & relevando said David of summis etx. in infeofamento dict. terrarum contentis :- RESERVATO vitali redditu said David & Grisel Leslie, eorumque diutius viventi :- with warrant of sasine directo James Lesly & Alex. Thomesoun :- TEST Master/Rev David Dunbar & Thos. Ros rectors of Cullycudden et Alnes... :- Apud Canoniam Rossen., 7 April 1568 :- And also charter (dicti) George Dunbar of Avache, [who sold to James Dunbar his legitimate son [the introductory clause adds quartogenito] - town etc. aforesaid : -TENEND said James & the legitimate male heirs of his body, whom failing, said George, his heirs and assigns quibuscunque reversuras, of the King virtute acti annexationis :- REDDEND devoiras in origanti charter feudifirme contentas: - with warrant of sasine directo John Dunbar apparent of Avache. TEST: Robt Grahame, archedeacon of Ross ... Adam Dunbar, public notary ... At Canonry of Ross 1 Mar 1595, etc. Grissel Leslie's testament was registered 20 December 1597.
