     Ann Banks was christened on 15 April 1684 in Hooton Roberts, Yorkshire. She was the daughter of Rev Robert Banks and Margaret Thornton. Ann Banks was listed in the household of Rev Robert Banks paying tax in Kingston upon Hull, Yorkshire, between 1695 and 1697.
     Ann Banks and Rev William Steer obtained a marriage licence on 31 May 1709 in York, Yorkshire.
Ann Banks married Rev William Steer, son of William Steer and Sarah Ludlam, on 1 June 1709 in Worksop, Nottinghamshire.
     In Joseph Banks's will dated 27 July 1726, Ann Banks was named as heir. Ann became Elizabeth Popplewell Steer's godmother at her christening on 12 June 1753 in All Saints Cathedral, Wakefield, Yorkshire.
In 1753 Mrs Steer was living at Wakefield, when she and the four daughters mentioned, surrendered the said lands in the Manor Court to the use of Housley Freeman.
     Ann Banks made a will dated 22 December 1755 in Wakefield. Will of Ann Steer of Wakefield, widow, relict of William Steer late of Ecclesfield clerk ... to be buried at Ecclesfield with her husband ... my sister Millicent Bankes of Kingston upon Hull, spinster ... my son Robert Steer executor, my seven children William, Robert, Charles, Ann, Jane Cutforthey, Elizabeth Fretwell & Mary Bankes.
     Ann died on 17 May 1759 in Wakefield, Yorkshire, aged 75. She was buried in with her husband and daughter at St Mary's, Ecclesfield. Here lies the body of Anne, widow of the Revered William Steer, Vicar of Ecclesfield who died May 17 1759.
     Her will was proved on 27 July 1759 at Lincolnshire. See also the accounts of Robert Steer executor to Mrs Ann Steer.

Burke states: Anne married William Pickering, Rector of Swillington, Yks.
