Alexander Stewart 4th High Steward

(1214 - 1283)
     Alexander Stewart 4th High Steward married Jeano or Joan Macrory, daughter of James or Angus Macrory Lord Bute. It is said that they had three sons and a daughter Elizabeth who married the Governor of Berwick upon Tweed, Sir William de Douglas, who died a prisoner in the Tower of London before 1299.
However the identity of Alexander's wife is uncertain. Some secondary sources erroneously identify her as Jean, daughter of James, son of Angus, son of Somerled.. Alexander Stewart 4th High Steward was born in 1214. He was the son of Walter Stewart 3rd High Steward and Lady Beatrix Angus.
     Alexander was was a crusader and later co-regent, Lord of Carlies in 1248.
He was Commander at the 1263 Battle of Largs against King Haakon of Norway. He was buried in 1283 in Paisley Abbey, Renfrewshire, Scotland.
     Alexander died in 1283.

     Alexander Stewart Earl of Buchan was also known as Wolf of Badenoch in records. He was called the 'Wolf of Badenoch'. Other sources suggest it is his son. He was born in 1343. He was the fourth son, apparently by Mariot Athyn. He was the son of Robert, II Stewart, King of Scotland and Elizabeth Mure.
Euphemia, Countess of Ross, married secondly Alexander Stewart Earl of Buchan in 1382. He was buried in 1394 in the Cathedral, Dunkeld, Perthshire.
     Alexander died in 1394 or 1405. He left no issue.
