     Henry Sarjent Ruby was born on 7 April 1838 in Abbotskerswell, Devon. He was the son of George Ruby and Ann Sergeant. Henry Sarjent Ruby was christened on 5 October 1840 in Abbotskerswell.
     Henry Sarjent Ruby appeared on the 1841 census in the household of George Ruby and Ann Sergeant in Abbotskerswell. Henry, Harriett, Elizabeth, George, Dinah and William were listed as the children of George Ruby in the 1851 census in 'Bickley Farm', Ipplepen, Devon.
     Henry Sarjent Ruby and Reuben Thomas Walling travelled to Ontario, Canada, in 1857. Henry S Ruby went with Reuben Walling to Canada where Henry worked at estimating grain for a distillery having been a miller in Devon. They then returned to Devon where they married each other's sister. He was a miller & baker in Ipplepen, Devon. He founded Ruby's bakery in Orillia.
Henry Sarjent Ruby married Sarah Ann Walling, daughter of James Walling and Ann Unknown, on 28 June 1860 in the Baptist chapel, Newton Abbot, Devon. His marriage certificate describes him as a miller & baker of Bickleigh, Ipplepen, son of George Ruby, miller & baker. They were both aged 22. The wedding was witnessed by Mary Hannah Walling & Elizabeth Serjent Ruby.

     Henry Sarjent Ruby and Sarah Ann Walling arrived per "Scotland" on 20 May 1872 at Orillia, Midland, Ontario via Quebec, Canada. Henry & Sarah with Alice, Bessie, Caroline, Elizzabeth, Ellen & Polly returned to Canada in 1872 and settled in Midland Ontario, where he established Ruby's bakery.

     Henry Sarjent Ruby and Chichester Phillips travelled to Canada in 1911. He and Mabel arrived on 21 July at Quebec from Liverpool on board the "Teutonic."
     Henry Sarjent Ruby and Mabel Louisa Ruby were listed in the 1911 census in Webster St, Midland, Simcoe County, Ontario. Henry S Ruby, L.S (legally separated?) head, born March 1838, aged 73, England, Methodist, baker; Mabel Ruby, daughter, single, born August 1878, 32, Ontario.
     Henry Sarjent Ruby and George Ruby attended a reunion in 1913 in Canada. There was a family reunion in Haliburton, in 1913 and George Ruby from Australia attended, then went on to England. Photographs of the family reunion and of the family before emigration are held. There is a tape of a 1983 conversation between Sargeant & Walling Ruby listing Canadian family and background.
     Henry died on 5 February 1931 in Midland, Simcoe County, Ontario, Canada, aged 92. He was buried in Lakeview, Midland.

     Horace was educated from 1905 at Bere Alston. Horace, born 12 June 1898 son of John entered 3 April 1905, left 7 Jun 1912.
Horace William Ruby married Edith Morris on 12 May 1958 in Plymstock, Devon. They had no issue.
     Horace died in July 1986 in Devon aged 88.

Ian Kenneth Ruby

     Ian Kenneth Ruby was commonly known as Bob. He was born on 15 February 1929 in Yarram, Victoria. He was the son of Ernest Wilfred Ruby and Daisy Ellen Scott.
He worked with his father for a time on the family farm before taking up shearing. He followed this occupation for several years until his health forced him to give it up. He then worked for the Ports and Harbours Commission for a number of years until his health deteriorated to the stage where he had to give up full time employment. After leaving 4 Bruce St, Yarram, he lived for a couple of years at Redland Bay in Queensland before moving to Frankston. For the last couple of years of his life he lived at Racecourse Road, Pakenham, Victoria. Although christened Ian Kenneth, he was mostly referred to as "Bob". He never married. Ian Kenneth Ruby was listed in a directory dated 1970 at 70 Union Street, Yarram, Victoria.
     Ian was registered as as a farmer at 4 Bruce Street, Yarram, on the 1982 electoral roll.
     Ian died on 16 November 1992 in Caritas Christi Hospice, Kew, Victoria, aged 63. He was buried on 19 November 1992 in Yarram.
     His will was proved on 23 February 1993 at Victoria. Death given as 17th, pensioner of Pakenham.

     Jack Ruby's address is 11 Trevally Drive, Ocean Grove, Victoria. He was born on 8 April 1920 in Yarram, Victoria. He was the son of Ernest Wilfred Ruby and Daisy Ellen Scott.
He grew up on the family farm at Yarram. Educated in Yarram. His current interests are family, legacy, bowls and gardening. Jack worked for the Union/ANZ Bank from 1937 to 1978. In 1937 joined the Union Bank at Bairnsdale. He took up an accountancy course by correspondence, and served the bank until 1941 when he joined the RAAF.
After the war, he rejoined the bank and worked in Melbourne branches before being transferred to Warrgul, Ballarat East and Daylesford. Completed the accountancy course. In 1957 moved with his wife and family to Gunnedah, NSW where took over the management of the ANZ bank branch. He was transferred to Muswellbrook in 1962 and back to Horsham in Victoria in 1965. In 1969 he was promoted to manager of the ANZ in Pall Mall, Bendigo, where he remained until he retired in 1978. He was christened in 1937 in the Church of England, Yarram, Victoria.
     Jack served as a Warrant Officer in the Royal Australian Air Force (409598) between 1941 and 1946. He enlisted in the Army at Bairnsdale (V41150) -further details not recorded but on 12 Sep 1941 he enlisted in RAAF aircrew. After training in Australia he was sent to England in 1942 and was posted to RAF Bomber Command. In September 1943 was shot down during a raid on Berlin. After capture by the Germans, served the rest of the war in a P.O.W. camp. His posting at discharge on 22 Jan 1946 was 1 Medical Rehabilitation Unit.. He became engaged to Sadie Aileen Norman in October 1945 in 16 Mabel St, Yatala, Alberton, South Australia.
Jack Ruby married Sadie Aileen Norman on 8 December 1945 in St Margaret's, Woodville, South Australia.
     Jack resided at 11 Trevally Drive, Ocean Grove, Victoria, from 1979.
     Jack died in January 2005 in Victoria aged 84.
