     George Gilby was born circa 1630 in Belton, Lincolnshire.
     Dr J Lloyd states that he was a Belton yeoman and grocer and receiver of half the tithe income of Belton parish when he died in 1686.
     George Gilby married Elizabeth Ryther, daughter of Robert Ryther and Eleanor Browne, on 4 December 1671 in Belton, LIN. Georg Gilbie & Mrs Elizabeth Elwick. She is probably the mother of William Gylby of the Close, Lincolnshire, who was one of 7 parties to the 1740 indenture re Sewell Hall for the settling of all controversies.
     George died in 1686 in Belton, LIN.

They had Helen Flora Gillham, baptised 28 Jan 1853 at St Thomas, Stepney. He next married on 25 Apr 1871 Blanche Campbell Valentine at St Thomas, Stepney. He was described as a gent of Stepney and his father as an officer in the Royal Artillery.
     Alfred died on 24 August 1892 in Islington RD, Middlesex, aged 62. He was buried at Greenwich on 29 August.
     The administration of his estate was granted on 22 November 1892 at London. He was of 342 Liverpool Rd, Islington. Effects £135.
