     Walter FitzGilbert Hamilton married Helen Unknown (Hamilton). Walter FitzGilbert Hamilton was born before 1275 in Lanarkshire, Scotland. He was the son of Gilbert de Hamilton and Isabel Randolph.
     Witness to a charter to the monks of Paisley 10 Jan 1294/5, and is named in the homage roll 28 Aug 1296. Attaching himself later to King Robert Bruce, he had grants of Dalsef 3 Mar 1314/5, and afterwards of Cadzow, which became the chief lordship and seat of the Hamilton family. He had a grant of Kinneil 28 July 1323.
     He is mentioned in Scottish records between 1294 and 1323 and Robert the Bruce bestowed upon him the Barony of Cadzow (Cadyow) in Lanarkshire and several other lands in Lanark, Wigtonshire & Linlithgowshire. [The Scottish nation, p.415].

William Hamilton

     William Hamilton was the son of Sir David Hamilton and Janet Keith.
     William Hamilton lived at Bathgate, Midlothian, Scotland.
     He was imprisoned, along with his brothers William and Andrew, in Norwich, in 1396. Richard II of England ordered their release from the Mayor and bailies of that city on 29 June. A John Hamilton, either his brother John Hamilton of Bardowie, or uncle, John Hamilton of Fingalton was released from the Tower of London on the same date. Hamilton and his uncle seem to have found themselves guests of the English again, when at a meeting of Border commissioners at Hawdenstank, on 28 October 1398, the first point of business was the release of Hamilton of Cadzow, and Hamilton of Fingalton and others in their entourage. The Hamiltons had been caught at sea by English privateers, again in violation of the truce. The English were urged to release the ship and restore their goods to them, or alternatively pay suitable recompense.

Roulston describes him as the third son of ther first Earl of Abercorn and states that he was accused ofhaving converted his wife ot Catholicsm. He later became ambassador to Rome for Queen Henrietta Maria, wife of Charles I.. He was the son of James Hamilton Earl of Abercorn and Marion Boyd.
     William matriculated at Glasgow University.
     He chose curators 19 July 1621, his next of kin on the father's side being Sir George Hamilton of Greenlaw and Sir Frederick Hamilton; on the mother's side, Wiliam Boyd of Bonshaw and Adam Boyd of Templeton.
     He was created a Baronet of Nova Scotia in 1627, was long resident in Rome on behalf of Henrietta Maria, Queen Dowager of England..
     Sir William Hamilton married Jean Colquhoun before 1 April 1656. HIs wife was a step-daughter of Hugh Montgomery, Viscount Ards.
     William died on 24 June 1681 in South Shields, Durham, England. His tombstone at St Hilda's states "late srvant to Queen Henrietta Maria"..

     Administration of the estate of Sir Claud Hamilton (of Shawfield) was granted to William Hamilton (of Eliston), on 29 November 1629 in the Prerogative Court of Armagh, Ireland, Admon of the estate of Sir Claud Hamilton of Baldony, co. Tyrone, was granted to his son William.

     Marie Hamilton? was born. Her daughter Mary was the niece of Sir Frederick Hamilton, which possibly makes her his sister. But Margaret is described as the only daughter of Claud Hamilton. She is not mentioned by Roulston, but he states that Claud father two illegitimate children - James & Mary, so she might be the latter.. She was the daughter of Claud Hamilton (Baron Paisley) and Margaret Seton.
     Marie Hamilton? married Henry Harman, son of Nicholas Harman and Mary Unknown (Harman), say 1609.
     Marie Hamilton? made a will dated 5 January 1649.
     Marie died on 25 March 1652 in Dublin, Ireland.
     Her will was proved on 25 March 1652 at the Consistorial Court, Dublin, Ireland. Her will dated 5 Jan 1649/50 directed that she be buried in St Bride's Church Dublin near her daughter Ann Wall.

     Emily's death was registered in the quarter ending in June 1901 in Tavistock RD, Devon.
