     The Nottinghamshire Guardian on 9 Sep 1852 reported Amor Rich of the Oldfellow's Arms, Retford had obtained his publican's licence.. Amor Rich was an executor of Amor Rich's estate on 18 June 1860 in the Principal Probate Registry, London.
     Amor Rich appeared on the 1861 census in 11 Blackfriargate?, Kingston upon Hull, Yorkshire. Amor Rich, 52, head, married, innkeeper, born Letwell, Yks; Elizabeth daughter, 16, assistant born Mattesea, Ntt; Frances Ann, daughter, 13, scholar, ditto; Alice M, daughter, 10, scholar, born Retford, Ntt; and 5 staff.

     Amor Rich was born in 1650 in Penistone, Yorkshire. He was the second son of Daniel of Smallshaw and inherited from his father in 1680 aged 30.. He was the son of Daniel Rich and Mary Haugh-Haigh.
     In Daniel Rich's will dated 5 March 1676/77 in 'Smallshaw', Thurlstone, Penistone, Yorkshire, Amor Rich was named as heir; In the name of God Amen the fifth day of March in the year of our Lord gpd (1676) I Daniel Rich of Smallshaw in the county of York being of perfect memory and remembrance praised be God for it I do make and ordain this my last will an testament in manner and form following: First I give and bequeath my soul unto the hands of Almighty God believing that I shall receive full pardon and free remission of all my sins and be saved by the precious death and merits of my blessed saviour Jesus Christ, and my body to the earth from whence it was taken to be buried in such Christian manner as to my executors heeafter named shall be though meet and convenient; and as touching such worldly estate as the Lord in mercy hath lent me; my will and mind is the same shall be employed and bestowed as here after by this my will is expressed and first I do revoke renounce frustrate and make void all wills by me formerly made; and I do declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say;
     Imprimis my will is that Mary my wife have a third part of my whole estate thoughout; and the new parlour being in my house at Smallshaw or choose one room in my house at Middopp head whether she will during her life

Amor Rich was mentioned as tenant in the manor court rolls dated on 24 September 1680 in Yorkshire, England, On September 24th 32 Charles II (1680), at the Court Baron of Alexander Stanhope Esq. & Henry Hall gent.: Daniel Rich of Smallshaw died since last Court & Emor Rich is his heir aged 30.
     A document re Haig's endowment for a preacher at Midhope [Ronksley no. 7432] mentions Royd in Langsett & Emor Rich's lands as being adjacent.
     1681 & 1702 and undated Emor Rich listed in Waldershelf assessments [Ronksley Collection no. 12891].
     He is possibly the cousin Amor in the letter from Elkanah re pew in church 1700

     Emor Rich was listed 1685 as overseer of the highways for Waldershelf bierlow. In 1679 Daniel Rich occupied the same position.
Amor Rich was listed on the rent roll of Midhope chapel, on 23 July 1698, for property in Midhope, Ecclesfield. Received of Emor Rich of Middop £1.6.8 half years rent belonging to Middoppe chapel, signed Wm Marshe.
     February 4th 1704/5 Emor Rich of Smallshaw in the parish of Penistone is bound to Nicholas Stead of Morehall gent, John Greaves of Middop gen, Ralph Marden of Middop yeoman & Stephen West of Nether Middop yeoman. For payment of £18/13/4 due to the chapel of Middop during the vacancy between Mr Marsh leaving about Martinmas 1698 & Mr Hoole coming in May 1705. .
     Memo that after many contests & debates Emor Rich did consent to pay the £16 afds without sute and so gave bond to the ffeoffies and had their discharge for the same and four marks more the year 1705. The discharge is dated Feb 3 1705 when the security was given and the moneys were payd in May 1706 and in June 1706 the 4 marks thereof were repayed to Wm Hooll minister there for the year 1705 and £16 afsd is in the hands of the feoffees to be put forth to interest for the use of a minister..      
Amor Rich paid land tax of £7/1/7 in 1710 in Thurlstone, Penistone, Yorkshire. Emor paid £7/1/7 (taking over from Daniel in 1707, his brother?) for property in Thurlstone. He paid land tax In the land tax assessment for the Barnsley area Emer Rich pays 17/4 at Cawthorne and £1/0/1 at Hoyland Swaine. Emer Rich paid £7/1/7 at Thurlestone in Sheffield district, Yorkshire, England, in 1712.

     Earlier references to the Rich family of Carlton include the widow Rich who was not chargeable for the 1664 hearth tax, which suggests that they are not related to the Penistone Rich family. However their use of the name Amor suggests a link. Amor may have had a sister Frances how married Thomas Rollet, on 8 May 1747 at Carlton in Lindrick. Amor Rich was christened on 19 April 1742 in Tickhill, Yorkshire. He was the son of Amor Rich and Gertrude Turnhill.
     Amor Rich married Sarah Unwin on 27 December 1763 in Carlton-in-Lindrick, Nottinghamshire. Amor Rich of this parish, bachelor, a wheelwright and the said Sarah Unwin, of this parish, spinster, were married in this church by banns 27 December 1763. Signed by Amor, Sarah made her mark.

Amor was a joiner & wheelwright, in Carlton-in-Lindrick, NTT, in 1818. He added a codicil to his will on 14 October 1820.

John Hall of Rodmoor Yate in the parish of Penistone & Anne Rich of this parish by licence from Mr Clarkson, vicar of Silkstone, married by Thos Loxley. They were both aged 23 according to the marriage bond. They left no issue.
     Ann died on 15 June 1747 in Penistone, Yorkshire, aged 26. She was buried on 17 June 1747 in Cawthorne. Section 6 Table tomb with border of lines round edge. Semi-circle at top with acanthus leaves bearing a crown. First word in relief.      Ann Rich was christened on 9 February 1792 in Hatfield. She was born on 9 February 1792 in Hatfield, Yorkshire. She was the daughter of Samuel Rich and Elizabeth Wells.

     Ann Rich was christened on 7 September 1823 in Bleadon, Somerset. She was the daughter of George Rich and Sarah Esgar.
     Ann died on 6 March 1845 in Auckland, New Zealand, aged 21. She was buried on 7 March 1845 in Symonds Street cemetery, Auckland.
