     Ann Heatherly was born on 2 April 1775 in Eastbourne, Sussex. She was the daughter of Robert Heatherly and Ann Smith? Ann Heatherly was christened on 19 May 1775 in St Mary, Eastbourne. She had been privately baptised 2 April 1775.
     Ann Heatherly married John Denman, son of William Denman and Ann Putland, on 20 December 1796 in Eastbourne, Sussex. They obtained a licence 8 December 1796, the bondsmen being John Denman and John Heatherley of Eastbourne. The marriage was witnessed by Ann Denman, Elizabeth Denman, John Heatherley and Harriet Denman.
     In Robert Heatherly's will dated 24 November 1813 in Willingdon, Sussex, Ann Heatherly was named as heir; The will of Robert Heatherly, gentleman, mentions his grandson Arnold Denman who received his silver watch, his wife Ann Heatherly, his son in law James Lay of Oxford St Middlesex, hatter & hosier £300, his daughter Ann Denman wife of John Denman of Willingdon yeoman, £500, Bowes John, Matilda & William Lay the three children of my late son in law Thomas Lay deceased £30 each, my son John Heatherly all the residue, property in Eastbourne... It was witnessed by James Vine, butcher of Willingdon, William Smith, taylor of Willingdon & William Thomas, blacksmith of Willingdon.
     Ann Heatherly appeared on the 1841 census in Willingdon. Ann Denman, aged 65, independent means, born in Sussex. She was living with a female servant Caroline Holloban, aged 15, born in the county.
     Ann Heatherly lived at Willingdon, 1845.
     Ann Denman and Louisa Noakes were recorded on the 1851 census in Jevington, Sussex. Ann Denman, widow, aged 75, born Eastbourne - visitor in household of her daughter Louisa Noakes, widow aged 42, farmer of 600? acres employing 24 labourers, born Willingdon and her children Frances 18?, Thomas Jr/Jo 17, William 15, Richard 12, Kate 2, all born at Jevington, with a servant. Ann Heatherly was listed in a directory dated 1855 as Mrs Ann Denman at Willingdon. A William Denman, ironmonger & blacksmith appears in the directories from 1855 to 1878.
     Ann died on 20 March 1855 in Willingdon, Sussex, aged 79. She was buried after 20 March 1855 in Willingdon.
