The BDM index gives his name as William Booker O'Connell, son of Rose Reiilly. Circumstances saw him ‘migrate’ through a succession of placements, from the Mortlake area, where his family was, to Tarraville in Gippsland, where he was licensed to farmer Edward Callighan (?) in 1873.
Prison records and newspaper articles show a history crime and violence leading up to the 1901 imprisonment. He was released in 1913. William was a labourer.
