     Zachariah Cocksedge and Elizabeth Hammond obtained a marriage licence on 4 January 1792 in Sudbury, Suffolk. Zachariah Cocksedge, of Rougham, schoolmaster, s.m. & Elizth Hamond of same,s.w., 18 years, at same (father Jn Hammond).

     Zachariah Cocksedge was christened on 9 September 1798 in Rougham, Suffolk. I have no proof whatsoever that the Zac in NSW is this man, he just seems the best age. He was the son of John Cocksedge and Mary Ann Howlett.
     Zachariah Cocksedge was involved in a criminal court case on 21 January 1822 in Suffolk. Zachariah Cocksedge was convicted at the Suffolk Assizes and sentenced to be transported for seven years for stealing a silver watch the property of William Osborn of Little Livermere. See the Bury & Norwich post for further details. He was transported to Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, arriving 6 March 1823. On Mar 11 1823, he was on a list of convicts landed from the "Surrey" and forwarded to Minto for distribution.
In 1824 he was on a list of assigned servants mustered in the employ of William Howe of Minto; in 1823-24 (Reel 6062; 4/1781 p.393a)
